"h" "e" double hockey sticks

alright, you christians out there: what do you think the bible says about hell? who it's for? what's it like?

non-christians, agnostics, buddhists, hindus, etc...: does any of your faith traditions have it's own kind of "hell" doctrine/philosophy?

i have done a semi-in depth study of the subject of hell in the bible and i would like to see what you all have to say about it. i would also like to see what i can learn from non-christians from their faith tradition of "hell" if there is one... or just what do you think about "hell" and what it might be like?

book stand

when i write my sermons it requires a lot of reading and so i might read for 6-8 hours at a time... so i asked my friend TJ, who is a woodworker, if he could make me a book stand so i could read without having to crane my head down while reading (this can hurt after 3 hours or so). he said he would and i finally forgot about it and that is when he made it and gave it to me as a surprise!

so i wanted to show it off and show off his craftsmanship. his name is TJ and here is the link to the page where it has pictures and details on how he made it. i have already told him thanks, but thanks again tj... i love you not just as a friend but as a brother.

friday's feast 01

Appetizer
Describe a toy you remember from your childhood.

-when i was little burger king was selling these little bears called crayola bears... they were these little primary colored stuffed bears with a little t-shirt that had the word "crayola" on the front... i wanted the purple one soooooo bad... i wanted it for christmas. on christmas morning i opened one of my gifts and it was a crayola bear... it was a yellow one because they were out of the purple one. but i loved it anyway... i still have it.

Soup
On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being highest) how observant are you?

-when i am not at home (because at home my brain sometimes shuts down for the day) i would say a 8 or 9.

Salad
Where would you rather be at this very moment?

-on the beach on padre island in corpus christi with my wife and kids.

Main Course
When was the last time you learned something new?

-working on my sermon for this sunday i learned that i liked the book of hosea a lot more than i thought i would... and i liked the sermon i wrote on it... i thought it would be a difficult sermon to write, but it wasn't!

Dessert Fill in the blank:

I have seen illegal drugs (had friends that used them) but I haven’t used any illegal drugs in my whole life.

standard first post...

this is of course a standard first post of a blog that i hope that i keep updated often enough to make it worth my time to write and your time to read.

i am a pastor of a presbytertian church in arkansas. i also work part-time as a marketing director for a real estate company.

come back and read what i talk about... who knows it might be about politics, religion, pants, food... who knows.
